Praying for Agapé

Family Life Weekend to Remember
18 April 2010

Pray for the FamilyLife team as they prepare for the “Weekend to Remember” coming up on the 8th & 9th of May in Warwick.  Pray for marriages to be strengthened and enriched by the weekend.  Ask God to bring about long-lasting spiritual change in those who come along.

Stress Packs in Oxford
12 April 2010

This term we are giving out Stress Packs at Oxford University and Oxford Brookes with nice gifts in them to help students relax during a stressful exam term. The contents engage different senses (eg. playdoh for touch) and also engages the spiritual sense with a meditation on Psalm 62.

Please pray for us as we finish making up these packs and staff and students get ready to give them out in our colleges and halls. Pray for these stress packs to touch people with God's love and lead to longer term relationships with new students.

Summer Sabbatical
8 April 2010

Please pray for two of our staff who have been working for a long time in North Africa. They are currently in the process of planning a Sabbatical beginning this Summer. Pray that God would provide them with places to stay, straightforward travel, rest, opportunities to grow and develop in their love for and knowledge of God's character and training courses they can begin and continue in long-distance learning to further equip them in their work.

Summer Project Key Partners
8 April 2010

Please pray for staff and students who are inviting people to undertake the vital role of partnering with them in giving to and praying for their Summer Project (a 3 week mission project overseas). Pray for those people who do partner to be greatly blessed in their giving and for project participants to grow in faith as they see God provide for their needs.

Project PETE
8 April 2010

During the summer term the Student Leaders as the University of Birmingham will be running project PETE - Post Exam Training in Evangelism. Pray that many people would get involved and learn a lot about how to share their faith through this. Please pray that God would be preparing the hearts of those we speak to, so that they are ready for our conversations with them and open to thinking more deeply about God.

Exam period
8 April 2010

Students across the country are preparing for exams in the summer term. Pray that Christian students would have a Christ-like attitude to their work and keep an eternal perspective. Ask God to use this as a powerful witness to their non-believing friends, providing many opportunities to talk about Jesus.

Agapé interviews
5 April 2010

Many people are being interviewed this month with a view to joining Agapé. Please pray for God’s blessing upon this process, that both Agapé and the applicants would know a clear sense of God’s calling.

Agapé Staff Training
4 April 2010

Many of our staff are attending an Agapé training conference in Birmingham this week called “Seeing his righteousness”. Pray that their time together would help them grow in their knowledge of the Bible and help them develop their skills in sharing their faith and discipling others.

Recent graduates of Maths and Sciences
28 March 2010

Pray for Christian students, recent graduates and academics working in maths and sciences.  Pray that their faith in Jesus would be strengthened as they grow in their knowledge of their fields.  Pray also that they would be bold in sharing their faith and feel encouraged by other believers as they do so.

Acts of service
26 March 2010

The Agapé Student Life team at UCL in London have been trying out different ways to serve the university, being a practical demonstration of Christ’s love. Pray for ideas that will be a clear indication of Christian service to the student community, that people would take notice and that they’d ask questions about the motivation behind them.

Fundraising strategy
26 March 2010

Ask for God's guidance for our long-term fundraising strategy. Pray for wisdom in finding the most efficient way of raising central funds for Agapé.

On The Journey
25 March 2010

Please pray for Ben, who is on Impact with Agapé in New Zealand this year. Thank God for the 2,000 entry cards filled in as part of the 'On the Journey' freshers' campaign he and his team are working on at Hamilton University. Pray for energy, good health and new believers as they follow-up those interested in hearing more about Jesus.

Returning to the Far East
25 March 2010

Pray for one of Agapé's staff returning to the Far East after several months developing his ministry partnership base. Pray for a good reconnection with his team and church, fun learning the language and culture and for these things to help him best minister to the people he is bringing Jesus to.

St Patrick's Day Party
22 March 2010

Give thanks for the St Patrick’s Day party held by the Student Leaders at the University of Birmingham last week. Thank God for the many students who came along, around half of them non-believers. Pray that the story of St Patrick, as a missionary to Ireland who set up over 1,000 churches, would challenge students in their thinking. Pray for Birmingham students to put their faith in Christ.

Praying for Haiti
22 March 2010

One of our staff, Pam Robertshaw, was recently in Haiti working with the Global Aid Network (GAiN), part of Agapé’s worldwide ministry. These are her prayer requests following her visit:

  • Pray that people would experience God’s love even in this really difficult situation.
  • Pray particularly for women that they would experience God’s protection, as it is a dangerous and scary place at the moment.
  • Pray for believers to continue to have faith in the Lord and experience God’s grace.
  • Pray there would be good coordination of long-term aid. Pray that God would have his hand in bringing the right people to Haiti that will help the long-term development.
Agapé's Adult Ministries
21 March 2010

Pray for those being mentored and discipled by Agapé’s Community Initiatives, FamilyLife and Workplace Initiatives teams.  Pray that they would be bold in speaking about the gospel, and that their boldness would come out of a growing love for Jesus.
